Many members of the community have suggested certain applications or plugins which would work well to make an overall "security toolkit" type of build. Some of you may wish to install some of these alongside PortableTor to have the ultimate secure and safe browsing experience. Here's the list!

  • PortableFirefox - This is a must have if you are going to be going between locations with your USB key and want to remain on the Tor network.
  • TorButton - Torbutton provides a button to easily enable or disable the browser's use of Tor.

  • No-Referrer - Lets you open a link in a new tab without sending the referrer information.

  • CustomizeGoogle - CustomizeGoogle is a Firefox extension that enhance Google search results by adding extra information (like links to Yahoo, Ask Jeeves, MSN etc) and removing unwanted information (like ads and spam). All features are optional and easily configured from the options menu. View a short introduction movie at www.customizegoogle.com

  • NoScript - Extra protection for your Firefox: NoScript allows JavaScript, Java and other executable content only for trusted domains of your choice, e.g. your home-banking web site. This whitelist based preemptive blocking approach prevents exploitation of security vulnerabilities (known and even unknown!) with no loss of functionality... Experts do agree: Firefox is really safer with NoScript ;-)

  • Temporary Inbox - This extension generates random disposable email addresses. Use those email addresses for registration at forums, adult sites or whatever. The email addresses don't need registration. This is an easy way to avoid spam, because the spamer never knows your private email address .. only the temporaryinbox.com email address.
